Griswold Leads Garden Grove’s Wrestling Victory

Adam Griswold won a key match at 130 pounds, to help visiting Garden Grove to a 42-36 Garden Grove League wrestling victory Tuesday.
Griswold pinned Aaron Pace in 5 minutes 24 seconds. Garden Grove improved to 7-6, 2-1 in league.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Aliso Niguel 41, Estancia 29--Grant Kobayashi won at 103 pounds, 20-4, as Aliso Niguel defeated Estancia (2-1). The Wolverines (1-1) won the final three matches by forfeit.
In the Sea View League:
Santa Margarita 75, Corona del Mar 6--Pat Blenkle defeated Eric Kramer, 3-1, at 145 pounds for host Santa Margarita (10-5-1, 3-0), ranked second in the county.
In Academy League boys’ basketball:
Capistrano Valley Christian 77, St. Michael’s 38--Andrew Jennings and Tim Baker each scored 15 points for the visiting Eagles (12-6, 4-0), who led, 44-17, at halftime and remained in first place.
St. Margaret’s 81, Liberty Christian 27--Reserve Wes Shaw scored a career-high 18 points and Brian Sternberg added 17 for host St. Margaret’s (6-10, 2-2).
In the Express League:
Palos Verdes Rolling Hills Prep 74, Huntington Beach Claremont 45--Randy Miller scored 14 points for Claremont (1-1 in league).
In Olympic League boys’ soccer:
Calvary Chapel 5, Capistrano Valley Christian 0--Josh Miller scored three goals and Tim Metzger scored his 13th goal in the last six games for host Calvary Chapel (7-4-3, 5-0-1), which remained in first place.
Orange Lutheran 2, Brethren Christian 0--Eric Van De Zilver and Josh Nelson scored goals and Shawn Vance had four saves in his eighth shutout for Orange Lutheran (11-2-2, 4-0-1).
In Century League girls’ water polo:
Canyon 12, El Modena 5--Jamie Miller scored four goals for visiting Canyon (10-5, 1-1), which led, 8-3, at halftime.
In nonleague water polo:
Mission Viejo 10, Aliso Niguel 5--Chelsea Rowlands scored eight goals in a nonleague victory for Mission Viejo (11-5). Goalie Jamie Mahkorn had 12 saves for the Diablos.
