There is more to Steve Lavin than his power haircut. The freshman coach, by being able to regroup his talented but depressed UCLA team, showed there is something underneath the best haircut L.A. has seen since Pat Riley’s.

It would not be too surprising at season’s end to see him accomplish something no coach since John Wooden has been able to do--win over the hearts of the nation’s most ungrateful and spoiled fans.
