The ‘60s garage-rock version of “Tainted Love” is a kick on KROQ, but the originals in the same vein on this Berkeley quartet’s second album are even more charming--brisk romps (16 songs in 28 minutes) with the spirit of the Shadows of Knight filtered through early Buzzcocks. We’ve heard it before, but not so much lately (“That Thing You Do” aside) that it doesn’t sound fresh.
