Concordia Easily Defeats Westmont, 73-56

Concordia had three players score in double figures in a 73-56 Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Westmont in front of 613 Saturday at Concordia.

Greg O’Hagan had game-highs with 19 points and 14 rebounds for Concordia (9-10, 2-2). Josh Giles scored 16 points and Kalim Scott had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles, who made 22 of 33 free throws.

Ken Knabke led Westmont (9-10, 1-3) with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Concordia outrebounded Westmont, 44-30.

In another Golden State Athletic Conference game:

Southern California College 77, Cal Baptist 70--Terence Wilborn (11 rebounds) and Marlon Watson each scored 20 points for SCC (14-7, 1-3). Adam Dzierzynski had 18 points, nine assists and five steals for the host Vanguards. Brian Dawson scored 17 points for Cal Baptist (5-13, 0-4).

In Golden West Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Cal Baptist 64, Southern California College 58--Elaine Whittemore scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for SCC (13-6, 2-2).

In Big West women’s basketball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 70, Long Beach State 67--Toby Metoyer scored a game-high 22 points and Kesha Wade added 18 points and seven steals for the 49ers (6-11, 3-3).

Nevada 80, UC Irvine 52--Leticia Oseguera had game-highs with 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Anteaters (8-9, 3-3).

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Chapman 74, UC Santa Cruz 65--Chapman (11-5) had four players score in double figures. Melissa Lopez scored a game-high 21 points, making five of eight three-pointers, Lyndsay Brown had 16 points, Courtney Kanegae had 15 points and Stef McNamara had 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Concordia 99, CS Los Angeles 51--Concordia (14-5) had three players score at least 20 points. Angela Sather scored 24 points and had six steals, Heather Carll had 20 points and 10 rebounds and reserve Angela Good scored 21 points in 22 minutes for the Eagles.

In nonconference gymnastics:

CS Fullerton 191.00, UC Santa Barbara 185.375--Katy Maty won the uneven bars and floor exercise with scores of 9.775 and won the all-around with a score of 38.4.

Fullerton’s Sara Taylor finished second on the floor exercise with a career-high score of 9.70.
