Saving on Calls

Regarding “Calling From Abroad” (Just the Facts chart, Jan. 19), which compared the cost of international calling from Brussels to Stamford, Conn.: I may have a much better alternative.
My brother and his family recently moved to Japan for a three-year Air Force tour. He quickly found the best value in long distance--one which I believe can be accessed around the world.
The cost is less than half of the best value in your chart: 48 cents a minute. The company is called RapidLink. No, I don’t work for the company or own any stock (however, if you sign someone up for the service, you get a $5 credit). Seems like a good deal. Their number is (800) 732-5465..

Editor’s note: We contacted a customer sign-up representative for the Atlanta-based RapidLink, who said the costs vary by destination. She said the company charges 57 cents per minute to call from Brussels to Stamford.
