Opportunities for Volunteering

Women Helping Women Services, a community service of the National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles, is accepting applications for its Paraprofessional Counselor Talkline Training Program. The 10-week course, taught by mental health professionals, prepares trainees to provide counseling to women and families in crisis through its WHWS Talkline. The Burbank Public Library needs volunteers to deliver hardback, paperback or large-print books as well as audiocassettes, Braille cassettes and talking books to residents who are homebound because of age, illness or disability. The Wildlife Waystation, a 160-acre refuge for wild and exotic animals at 14831 Little Tujunga Canyon Road, in the Angeles National Forest above Lake View Terrace, needs volunteers to help in education, merchandising, tours, special events, ranch maintenance and membership.
