Duck update--They moved into a tie with Chicago for eighth place in the Western Conference standings after Saturday’s 2-2 tie with the Kings, giving them a chance to try to win a playoff spot from ahead rather than from behind. They failed to reach the postseason last year by one point, despite a furious late-season run. Paul Kariya is moving up the NHL scoring list with 51 points, despite missing 13 games. His average of 1.5 points per game ranked behind only Mario Lemieux (1.79) and Jaromir Jagr (1.56).

Blues update--St. Louis dominated Montreal, 8-1, on Saturday, and former Duck Jim Campbell had two more goals, giving him 17. That’s more than any Duck except Selanne and Kariya.
