Math, Science Forum Planned for Girls

Girls in the Conejo Valley will get a chance to learn about career opportunities in mathematics and science at a Feb. 8 conference presented by the Thousand Oaks branch of the American Assn. of University Women.
As many as 400 girls in grades six through 12 are expected to attend the fifth annual Math / Science Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newbury Park High School, 456 N. Reino Road.
Students attending the conference will learn how excelling in math and science can improve their chances of embarking on successful careers in a variety of fields.
Twenty workshops are scheduled at the conference, including “Women in Aviation,” “Dentistry--A Great Profession,” “Secrets of the Internet” and “The Wide World of Environmental Science.”
Registration is $5 and includes lunch and a souvenir T-shirt. The deadline to register is Saturday. Students who miss the deadline will not be admitted.
