Council to Discuss Road Project Funding

The City Council is holding a special meeting today to discuss lingering problems in obtaining funds for improvements to Imperial Highway.
“We are still trying to find out if and how OCTA is going to fund the project,” Councilwoman Barbara Kiley said.
The city’s proposal to widen and landscape Imperial Highway was approved by Orange County Transportation Authority last year.
OCTA said it would give the city $25 million to complete the project but still hasn’t told officials when they will receive the first check.
The council will also discuss likely effects on Yorba Linda of Proposition 218, a statewide ballot measure passed by voters in November that restricts local governments’ ability to raise taxes.
Yorba Linda officials have estimated that they could lose as much as $4.1 million in revenue because of Proposition 218.
The council meets at 10 a.m. at City Hall, 4845 Casa Loma Ave. Information: (714) 961-7100.
