Church Separation
In two articles on the Religion Page (Jan. 11), the idea of churches helping to put people to work is discussed. Well, fine, so far as it can be done.
But then comes the shocker--that federal funds be “funneled through churches to find jobs for the unemployed.” Churches should do their thing without federal funds--without breaching the wall of separation.
And just think what a bureaucracy would grow to choose the recipients, audit expenditures and evaluate the results! No thanks.
