An employee at a polishing firm was hurt Wednesday when a machine exploded and caused a minor fire, authorities said.
Mario Garcia, 33, an employee at MSP Inc. on Fountain Way, suffered injuries to his face, back and legs when a grinding machine got too hot and exploded, causing a door to blow off its hinges and hit him in the face, said Tabby Cato, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department. Garcia was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.
The explosion at 10:18 a.m. also caused a brief fire that destroyed some machinery, some exhaust pipes and a small section of the complex’s roof, Cato said. The fire was controlled in about 10 minutes and total damage was estimated at $70,000.
