VENTURA — Nearly $27,000 worth of cocaine was seized at a Ventura apartment Wednesday by detectives looking into a drug ring that allegedly supplies drugs to the Santa Barbara area, according to law enforcement officials.
Officers from the Ventura/Oxnard Narcotic Enforcement Team, made up of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, arrested Roberto Ortiz Medina, 28, at the apartment in the 6700 block of Telephone Road, according to authorities. Medina is being held on suspicion of possession for sale of the drug.
In addition to the one pound of cocaine, officers found a handgun and several thousand dollars in cash at the apartment, authorities said.
Authorities said Medina was booked into Ventura County Jail. Officers said the investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
