LAPD Officer Pleads Not Guilty in 4 Sexual Battery Cases

A Los Angeles Police Department sergeant has pleaded not guilty to four charges of felony sexual battery involving young San Fernando Valley women he stopped for curfew violations.

Sgt. David Louis Navarro, 41, who worked at the Foothill Division station in Pacoima for nine months, is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is being represented by a public defender.

Los Angeles Municipal Judge Michael Kellogg set a preliminary hearing for Feb. 7.

Police said that Navarro, who has worked for the LAPD for 15 years, allegedly fondled young women in Sylmar and Chatsworth from June to November last year. Prosecutors say Navarro abused his authority by patting down young women.
