Russian ‘Godfather’ Gets 115 Months

The man prosecutors called a “godfather” of Russian organized crime was sentenced in New York to nearly 10 years in prison for extortion and for a fraudulent marriage aimed at preventing deportation. Vyacheslav Ivankov, 56, was convicted in July with three other Russians of conspiracy and attempting to extort $3.5 million from a Russian emigre investment firm. Ivankov was also convicted in a separate trial of fraudulently marrying an American woman to obtain a resident alien card.
