Children’s Museum to Present Literacy Programs

Responding to what they feel is an “alarming illiteracy rate” nationwide, officials from the Los Angeles Children’s Museum on Thursday announced the second annual Westside presentation of a theater-based literacy program for children.
Beginning today, the museum’s Reader’s Theatre Project will bring children’s stories to life with actors and music while projecting pages from children’s books overhead so children can follow along, said museum spokeswoman Helene von Schreiber.
Performances will be held through Sept. 5 on Fridays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the third-floor community room at Santa Monica Place mall.
