State Funds Sought for New Building

The Fullerton School District is applying for state funds to help pay for a new building at the Maple Community Center.
The building would primarily be a multipurpose room the public could use on weeknights and weekends, district officials said. The cost of the 2,000-square-foot project would be $300,000 to $400,000.
Assistant Supt. Patricia Godfrey said the district is seeking state funds to pay for half the project.
The other half would be paid by the district and, perhaps, the city, she said.
The City Council is scheduled to discuss the project’s funding on Tuesday.
Godfrey said the multipurpose room would be used by Maple Elementary School teachers and students during the day.
The public could use it for meetings, banquets and other activities.
