School Items Sought for Battered Kids

The Child Abuse Prevention Center of Orange County and other organizations are collecting school supplies for neglected and battered children through Aug. 21.
Items needed include crayons, notebooks, pens, highlighters, paperback dictionaries in Spanish and English, spiral binders, notebooks, construction paper, lunch boxes, book bags, child-safe scissors, rulers and calculators.
Materials should be free of violent illustrations.
Donations of over-size pencils and crayons and learning books for preschool children also are requested.
