2 Bodies Found in Ski Lodge Landslide
Rescuers formed a human chain to lift bricks and debris from two ski lodges buried in a deadly landslide. Two bodies had been recovered, and police told the families of 18 people missing not to expect to see them alive. A California couple identified as Mim and Mike Sodergren of Tahoe City were among those missing. Tourists and resort workers had been sleeping in the ski hamlet of Thredbo in New South Wales when the side of a mountain gave way, dropping tons of earth and uprooting trees onto the lodges. The risk of further landslides kept rescuers from entering the site until 11 hours after the accident.
