Mighty Ducks and Daigneault Agree to Terms

The Mighty Ducks agreed to terms with defenseman J.J. Daigneault on Thursday, in what was the first major move to solidify a team that reached the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs last season.

Daigneault, an unrestricted free agent, agreed to a three-year deal for less than $1 million per year, the team said.

Daigneault was acquired from Pittsburgh for left wing Garry Valk in February. He had two goals and nine assists in 31 games with the Ducks, but his ability to move the puck improved the Ducks’ power play. For the season, he had five goals and 23 assists.

“J.J. played well on the power play,” General Manager Jack Ferreira said.
