Effects Specialist to Deliver Pal Lecture

Oscar-winning visual effects specialist John Dykstra (“Star Wars,” “Star Trek--The Motion Picture,” “Batman & Robin”) will deliver the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ George Pal Lecture on Fantasy in Film on Aug. 7 at the academy headquarters at 8949 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.
Clips from several of Dykstra’s films will be shown at the 8 p.m. event.
Tickets are $2 for the general public and free to academy members and students.
