‘Lost in’ Robot Names

Richard Covington’s article on the forthcoming “Lost in Space” movie (“Danger! Danger!,” July 28) notes that among the merchandising spinoffs will be “Robbie the Robot toys.” Very interesting--inasmuch as Robbie was a character in the 1956 MGM feature “Forbidden Planet”; the completely different robot on “Lost in Space” never had a name. But then again, given that both properties are now owned by Time Warner, such pesky little details don’t really mean much anymore, now, do they?
