Judy Kallet to Head Times’ Info Systems

Judy Kallet, vice president of production and technology at the Hartford (Conn.) Courant newspaper, will join the Los Angeles Times in the new position of senior vice president and chief information officer, announced Richard T. Schlosberg III, The Times’ publisher and chief executive officer.

Kallet will be responsible for creating integrated and effective information technology systems in support of Times Mirror Co., parent of The Times and the Courant, and The Times’ extensive editorial, publishing and business activities. She will oversee The Times’ technology resources group and the Times Mirror information systems division, which were recently consolidated into a new department at The Times.

Kallet, 46, will join The Times after a two- or three-month transition from her duties at the Courant and her relocation to Los Angeles.

“I look forward to the challenges and rewards of contributing to one of the world’s great newspapers,” Kallet said. “Technology offers powerful tools for success, and I’m excited about working with The Times’ talented staff to meet business objectives.”
