Sheriff’s Mobile Center to Visit Problem Areas

A converted utility van loaded with computers, video monitors and communications equipment is scheduled to hit Artesia’s toughest streets starting next week.
Similar to larger cities’ mobile police stations, the Artesia Mobile Law Enforcement Center will be stationed in parts of the city where Neighborhood Watch organizations report heavy gang and drug problems, Assistant City Manager Maria Dadian said.
The van will also allow the city’s four special assignment sheriff’s deputies to set up command centers during disasters, Dadian said.
