Joining forces in the studio with producers the Dust Brothers, the L.A. hard-rock trio conspires to mix loops, samples and electronic beats with Black Sabbath-inspired metal. On “Clubfoot,” one sampled line that bleats “I’m pimpin’ rock” states the funk-metal goal. But the light-footed wizardry of the electronic flourishes only makes the heavy guitar and rock singing feel lumbering.
