Lawmakers Should Butt Out of Cereal Business
- Share via
I am comforted that Reps. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sam Gejenson (D-Conn.) are spending their time protecting the American consumer against high cereal prices--as if consumers could not make their own decisions in the purchase of such products (“Lawmakers Urge Further Cereal Price Cuts,” July 25).
I suggest that these two representatives--and others in Congress--use their time and effort to reduce the size and influence of the federal government in the lives of people they represent rather than threaten government action against legitimate businesses. Government has no authority to interfere in the operation of such businesses.
