Keep the Trees, Trim the Officials

* The July 23 article on trees being torn out in the downtown area by the city of Fullerton cries out for comment.
We have a person in Fullerton whose job is titled “city risk manager?” Sounds like the city should be in for some scathing satire on that one.
Beyond the job silliness though, has the city contemplated the comparative look of a “virtually treeless” city like downtown Anaheim or the new Brea with our downtown look? Maybe the beauty of the city is more important than the “bucks” spent on taking care of it? I doubt, however, that this sort of view involving aesthetics will have any bearing on our local council. Money is always the root of everything, isn’t it?

* I was shocked to read Fullerton City Council plans to remove the stately trees along Harbor Boulevard.
Haven’t city staff yet heard of what is called root pruning? I live in north Anaheim, but am compelled to shop in neighboring Fullerton because these trees make the landscape so much more beautiful in which to spend money! Maybe the residents of Fullerton need new city staff or council members.
