2 Students, Longtime Volunteer Honored

Two Ventura students were honored at the annual state meeting of Native Daughters of the Golden West held recently in Modesto.

Danny Parziale, an eighth-grader at Holy Cross School, won a $75 first-place award in the “Wonders of California” essay contest for his age group. Elisabeth Baker, a fifth-grader at Temple Christian School, was awarded $25 and third-place honors in the same contest.

Also, Carla Bard of Ojai was presented a plaque designating her as a Public Achievement Award winner for her nearly five decades of community service and volunteerism.
