Hells Angels Ride to Museum’s Rescue

This past May the Ventura County Gull Wings Children’s Museum went public with its need for financial help from the community if it was to keep its doors open. I thank all the private citizens, as well as the service organizations that responded.
The museum was encouraged by this show of support, but unfortunately we were still in need of funds. I had read about the Hells Angels helping children in need, and with Gull Wings executive board approval, contacted George Christie, president of the Ventura Chapter of the Hells Angels.
Christie said, “Yes, we can do something to help.”
These gentlemen came through like knights in shining armor. Within a few weeks they had organized an extremely successful fund-raiser for the museum. They would not hear of the museum doing anything. They negotiated for possible locations, printed tickets and posters, publicized the event, arranged for outstanding food and beverages, booked some of the top bands in the county, and all the many other details that go into making an event happen.
The July 19 fund-raiser, held at the local Hells Angels clubhouse, was attended by hundreds. It was an incredible family event. Whether it was a youngster, an elderly person or an adult everyone had a great time. The Hells Angels turned over the $5,000 raised to the Gull Wings Children’s Museum.
I want to thank everyone who helped put this fund-raiser together, as well as everyone who attended.
From my heart, I thank Christie and the Hells Angels, Ventura Chapter.
