SPLASH TONIGHT
Opponent--Monterrey La Raza
Site--Monterrey Tech Arena, Mexico
Time--4 p.m.
Records--Splash 5-4, La Raza 6-6
Splash--Coming off an 8-6 loss to first-place Sacramento on July 26, the third-place Splash begins a three-game trip. Anaheim won’t play at home again until Aug. 10 against Arizona. Forward Bernie Lilavois leads the team with 14 goals and 20 points, and goalkeeper Ruben Fernandez has a 4.90 goals-against average.
La Raza--All-Stars Genoni Martinez (defender) and Marco Lopez (midfielder) lead the two-time defending CISL champions. “Monterrey has a smaller arena [capacity 3,500], a smaller field and is a very difficult place to play,” Ervine said. “But it’s something we need to overcome to give ourselves a chance to win in the fourth quarter.” This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season; Monterrey plays Sept. 6 at the Pond.
