Pacific Sunwear to Buy Good Vibrations Stores

ANAHEIM — Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. on Monday said it agreed to purchase 15 stores from the Good Vibrations chain for about $9.2 million. The company also plans to buy the inventories of Good Vibrations, an apparel chain based in Florida.
Pacific Sunwear will have 35 stores in Florida after the purchase is completed. The stores will continue to operate under the Good Vibrations name, Pacific Sunwear Chief Executive Officer Greg Weaver said.
“We compete with Good Vibrations in five malls and in each case both stores are doing well so there’s no reason to close any locations,” Weaver said. “As leases expire, we can then look at the situations individually.”
Pacific Sunwear, which is expanding in the east, now has 229 stores in 35 states. Good Vibrations, a privately held company that’s been selling apparel and accessories for 15 years, is profitable, Weaver said.
