Tekelec Earns $3.4 Million on 48% Rise in Sales

Tekelec posted a profit turnaround in its second quarter on a 48% rise in sales.
In the quarter that ended June 30, Tekelec reported net income of $3.4 million, compared with a $1.4-million net loss a year earlier. Revenues in the quarter were $25.0 million, up from $16.9 million in the same period a year ago.
For its six months, Tekelec posted a net income of $5 million, compared with a net loss of $5.4 million last year. Revenues for the six months jumped 60% to $45.7 million, up from $28.7 million a year ago.
The Calabasas-based company said that orders for its switching and diagnostics products increased 187% from the second quarter of 1996.
Tekelec manufactures diagnostic systems used in computer network switching systems.
