Council Will Consider Carwash’s Request

A request for an amendment to the construction requirements for Paul’s Car Wash at 8511 Moody St. is on the agenda for the City Council’s meeting tonight
Construction of the carwash has been controversial, with a number of residents questioning whether the small city, which already has two carwashes, needs a third.
The owner wants to open for business before landscaping and road signage are fully in place, City Manager Daniel E. Keen said. That would mean failing to comply fully with the city’s building requirements and would require council approval.
Keen said Friday that he expects the proposal to be hotly contested.
“It’s been a contentious issue in recent years,” he said.
The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 7822 Walker St.
