Two teenage boys playing with matches caused a small brush fire that burned about 18 acres in the rugged mountain area south of Mugu Rock in Ventura County on Monday afternoon, fire officials said.
The blaze, which began about 2:20 p.m., was located near Pacific Coast Highway and Sycamore Canyon, said fire investigator Joe Luna, a spokesman with the Ventura County Fire Department.
Five hand crews, eight fire engines, one bulldozer and two helicopters fought the blaze, which was under control by 6 p.m.
There were no injuries and no structures were threatened.
Sheriff’s deputies cited the youths and released them to their parents, according to the Fire Department.
