City May File Claim Over Drug Test Fees
A panel of three Los Angeles City Council members on Monday moved to file a claim against the county requesting the city’s share of fees collected from criminal defendants for drug tests.
Officials do not know exactly how much the city is owed, but estimate that it could be several million dollars.
During a meeting of the Public Safety Committee, officials said they are not certain if the county is keeping money that should be given the city, or is simply failing to collect the $50 fee from many defendants.
