Festivities to Mark City’s 40th Anniversary

A weeklong trip down memory lane began with free bus rides Monday as Paramount kicked off its 40th anniversary celebration.
In honor of the 1957 merger of two dairy communities known as Hynes and Clearwater, rides aboard the Easy Rider shuttle will be free through Saturday.
More than 100 residents who have lived in the city for more than 40 years are scheduled to receive certificates Wednesday morning during a fishing derby at Spane Park.
Former City Council members also will be honored during a birthday party Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The festivities will conclude with a barbecue at 11 a.m. Saturday during the dedication of Garfield Park at Garfield Avenue and Petrol Street.
