Early Barrage Hurts JetHawks

The Lancaster JetHawks tried to rally from a huge deficit but trailed, 15-10, in the ninth inning against the High Desert Mavericks on Monday at Lancaster Municipal Stadium.
High Desert threatened to pull into a first-place tie with the JetHawks in the California League’s Valley Division.
The Mavericks built a 13-2 lead over the first four innings and held on after Lancaster secored five in the fifth on four consecutive doubles and three more in the eighth.
Starter Damaso Marte, coming off two strong performances, allowed seven runs in 1 2/3 innings before he was replaced by Eric Morgan. Morgan yielded six runs in the next 1 2/3 innings.
