“Every winter we have a truffle dinner for a few close friends. I had just watched the video ‘Chinatown,’ and perhaps because of that, I chose the 1982 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild with its famous label by John Huston. I wouldn’t normally choose so powerful a wine, but it was an excellent year for truffles, and the wine with its mushroom smell created a symphony of power, an equilibrium of strength.”
