A San Fernando Valley educator and a Westside executive were appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson on Tuesday to the board of governors of the California Community Colleges.
Patricia G. Siever, of Culver City, and Richard F. Alden, of Beverly Hills, will join the 16-member board, which sets educational and administrative policies for the state’s community colleges.
Siever teaches history at Pierce College and was a founding member of the history department at Mission College. She is president of the California Assn. of Community Colleges and a member of the Legislative Reform for the Community Colleges Task Force.
Alden is chairman of Rimar Investment Inc. in West Los Angeles and co-chairman of the California State Parks Foundation. Between 1985 and 1988, he worked as vice chairman and general counsel of Hughes Aircraft, where he also served on the board of directors and executive committee.
