Bullfrog update--The four playoff teams from the five-team Western Conference are set, so the final three games will determine whom the Bullfrogs, tied for third with St. Louis with 24 points, will open against next week. The Bullfrogs, who have had three consecutive shootouts, have won four in a row. Only eight players remain from the opening-day roster. Victor Gervais has 48 points and 37 assists to lead the club. The Bullfrogs signed Brent Thurston, a forward. The team also released center Mark Stitt and defenseman Chad Nelson.
Rhino update--Front-running San Jose has won three in a row and is in position to win its first conference regular-season title in two years. The Rhinos (28 points) lead the Blades (27 points). Defenseman Radek Hamr tallied nine points in victories over St. Louis and Sacramento last week. He leads the league in points with 18 goals and 49 assists. Joe Bonvie has a 5.87 goals-against average.
