The first Hollywood Film Festival will be held Oct. 14-19 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, with other venues to be announced. Co-founded by writer-producers Carlos and Janice de Abreu, proprietors of the Internet Screenwriters Network in Beverly Hills, the festival will also present what it calls its Hollywood Discovery Awards.
In addition to screenings, there will be panel discussions; opening- and closing-night galas; a marketplace for new talent to present projects, products or services; a tribute to Orson Welles featuring an appearance by Welles’ last cinematographer, Gary Graver; and an awards banquet. According to Carlos De Abreu, the festival award winners will be selected and judged by Hollywood professionals.
