CitySearch to List on WebTV Online Service

(Bloomberg News)

Pasadena-based CitySearch Inc. said it will provide local entertainment listings on WebTV Networks Inc.’s Internet service, increasing the distribution outlets for the closely held Internet city directory. Microsoft Corp. last week completed its $425-million acquisition of WebTV, which provides Internet service to a conventional television through a set-top box and regular phone lines. Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., also operates SideWalk, an online entertainment and listings service that competes with CitySearch. The nonexclusive agreement gives CitySearch, which provides restaurant and entertainment listings in various U.S. cities, another avenue to distribute its service as it seeks to expand its business. WebTV will also be providing listings from Microsoft’s SideWalk directory service.
