In another sign of the U.S. economy’s strength, the number of for-profit business incorporations increased 3% last year, Dun & Bradstreet reported. There were 790,569 domestic incorporations in 1996, besting the record of 768,180 set a year earlier. . . . DuPont said it will spend $1.7 billion to buy a 20% stake in Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., the world’s largest seed corn company.
