President of Playmates Toys and Sister Company Resigns

COSTA MESA — Playmates Toys Inc. said Thursday that Richard Sallis had resigned as president after 11 years to “pursue other interests.”
Sallis also resigned as president of Playmates Interactive Entertainment Inc., a sister company.
Playmates Toys Executive Vice President Ron Welch, a 49-year-old Long Beach resident, was named president. “The appointment of Ron Welch reinforces our continued effort to build a strong management team based on the established culture and values at Playmates,” said Playmates Toys Chief Executive Officer Thomas Chan.
Playmates Toys markets action figures and dolls, including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Trek and Waterbabies Doll lines. It also sells Nano Pals, a virtual pet.
