Work on Sewer System Delayed by Collapses

Parts of the city’s 60-year-old sewer system are so deteriorated that a video crew hired to probe the tunnels has fallen months behind schedule, city officials said Thursday.
A report on how to repair the system--several portions of which have collapsed in recent years--was due last month, but city spokeswoman Nancy Blaine said it may not be available until October.
Efforts to videotape the 60-mile system have stalled because certain tunnels have to be cleaned before they can be documented, she said. City officials also underestimated how much of the system needed to be videotaped, Blaine added.
