Obituaries : K.W. ‘Tex’ Scholler; Retired Navy Lt. Commander

K.W. “Tex” Scholler, a retired Navy lieutenant commander and 26-year Ventura County resident, died Tuesday at his Oxnard home following a battle with cancer. He was 57.
Scholler was born Feb. 20, 1940, in San Antonio. He was graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., in 1962 and went into a Navy squadron as a tactical coordinator, serving two deployments in Vietnam.
He then went to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1964, and then served another year in Vietnam. After that, he served a two-year tour of duty in El Segundo.
Scholler left active duty to work in civil service at Point Mugu while remaining in the Navy Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He continued working in civil service, retiring from full-time work earlier this year.
He was a private pilot, was active in his church and enjoyed reading.
Scholler is survived by his wife, Georgia; son Drew of Ventura; daughters Laurie Eaken and Carolanne Scholler, both of Oxnard; brother Gary Scholler of Houston; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Dusek and Lance Ralston officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Livingston Memorial Hospice, 1996 Eastman Ave., No. 101, Ventura, CA 93003.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
