5 Killed as Violence Mounts in South

From Times Wire Reports

Five Lebanese were killed by two bombs and Israeli shelling as the southern part of the nation slid deeper into the worst violence since an Israeli offensive more than a year ago. The latest deaths included a woman and her two children killed by a roadside bomb planted by unknown assailants. The others were a pro-Israeli militiaman killed by a bomb planted in his car, reportedly by Hezbollah guerrillas, and a farmer killed by retaliatory Israeli shelling. It raised the death toll to 13--including seven civilians--since Monday, when Israel began the latest round of violence by killing five guerrillas of the Islamic movement Hezbollah with a roadside bomb.
