Raiders Expect Howard to Play Against Packers

Desmond Howard, signed as a free agent by the Oakland Raiders after being named Super Bowl most valuable player for Green Bay in January, is expected to play tonight when the Raiders take on the Packers in an exhibition game at Oakland.

Howard has missed most of training camp after straining his right hamstring on the second day of workouts.

Prosecutors in Rockwall, Texas, reviewing Bam Morris’ drug case have requested an NFL report that he tested positive for alcohol, which could lead them to revoke his probation.

One condition of the Baltimore Raven running back’s probation following his guilty plea to marijuana possession last year was that he avoid alcohol. Rockwall County District Attorney Ray Sumrow said he is subpoenaing the league for test results and will review them in a process that could take at least two weeks.

Morris, 24, tested positive for alcohol in January, the NFL said Wednesday and received a mandatory four-game suspension since it was his second violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

The Cincinnati Bengals waived former UCLA wide receiver Kevin Jordan, who joined the team last year after he was waived by the Arizona Cardinals.

The San Diego Chargers signed veteran linebacker Chris Singleton to a one-year contract.

Singleton, New England’s first-round draft pick in 1990, played the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He started 13 games last year, making 58 tackles.

The Chargers’ All-Pro middle linebacker, Junior Seau, is expected to be sidelined about a month after undergoing knee surgery Monday.
