* Fast fact: Mark Martin, third last year, is looking for his fourth victory in five races at the Glen. He won in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

* Defending champion: Jacques Villeneuve.
* Last week: Idle.
* Fast fact: Villeneuve, second to Michael Schumacher in the driver standings, has finished only four of 10 races this season.

* Defending champion: Mike Skinner.
* Last week: Ron Hornaday, taking advantage of a late caution, outraced Jimmy Hensley over the last two laps to win the Cummins 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
* Fast fact: Hornaday’s victory was his 16th, matching the record for the three-year-old series set by Skinner, now a regular in the Winston Cup series.
