Give Credit Where It’s Due

If Laurie Winer is going to criticize Marvin Hamlisch for not mentioning the writers of his “the songs I wish I’d written” (“They Played Mostly His Songs,” Aug. 4) segment, then she should make sure she identifies them correctly herself. “Someone to Watch Over Me” was written by George and Ira Gershwin and “Somewhere” was written by Bernstein and Sondheim. When identifying a song, as opposed to a melody, all writers of that song should be acknowledged.
