Jeff Gordon Passed by Nightmare Ned

What’s all this hype about NASCAR racing being such a popular sport? That hype was disproved with the Aug. 2 running of the Brickyard 400.
After hearing all the hype about the growing popularity of NASCAR racing, I decided to watch the Brickyard 400, only to find that it was preempted by Saturday morning cartoons and all I would be able to see was a delayed broadcast. No thanks.
The Brickyard 400 was billed as NASCAR’s richest race and the second-most important in its schedule. I can’t imagine the live broadcast of a major league baseball game between even cellar dwellers being preempted by Saturday morning cartoons.
Tell NASCAR to give me a call when Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt become as popular as Nightmare Ned and Winnie the Pooh, two of the cartoons that preempted them.
